I have been a lazy webmaster...
Actually, there haven't been so much to update either. This photo tells it
all - we have been curled up in a warm blanket and enjoyed
in the Christmas time. Both dogs have also been enjoyed in the regular massage
sessions during the past month.
Ronja is already a full member of our pack and keeps Nando very busy with
playing. "Team Käpykoirat" - Nando & Ronja - are just a perfect match together.
Both acting the same and both having those lovely flying ears... love-ears :)

Jumo has made himself at home amazingly easy with Päivi & RR-girls at kennel Feanor's.
We had to make a heart breaking decision to let either of our boys
to go for a new home in October. Nando and Jumo didn't get along anymore. After many long
nights suffused with tears, we decided to let Jumo go to enjoy life with my good
friend Päivi.
I visited Päivi couple of weeks ago and was happy to notice how relaxed Jumo is.
As hard as the decision was, I now know that it was the only right thing to do
both for us and the dogs.

May I introduce our new family member FIN CH Malozi
Damisa "Ronja".
Grand-old lady Ronja has made herself at home very quickly and enjoys in playing
with Nando. More information about Ronja is coming later...
Jumo is now living with Ms. Päivi Sormunen at
kennel Feanor's. Jumo has
an active life with his mom Fanny, sister Musca and African auntie Neela.

World Dog Show 2009 in Bratislava, Slovakia
This was the 3rd time for Jumo to attend World Winner show... He entered WDS
Poznan in 2006 (BOS puppy), WDS Stockholm 2008 (open class & CAC winner) and now
in Bratislava – one could say he’s already a old stager in the title shows :D
Males were judged by Mr. Hans Müller, CH. Breed entry 286, males 122, open class
males 30 - and Jumo was 4th in the class! Coooool! Jasu succeed too and was
EXC-3 in her class. Jumo's show results updated.

J-team will enter two shows more in Slovakia and then, I will finally get my boy
back home!

Jumo’s breeder Tuija took Jumo and his sister Jasu (Malozi Jazua)
for a trip to
prestigious World Winner Show in Bratislava, Slovakia. Tuija’s lovely girl Milka
is here to keep company with Nando for two weeks while Jumo is aboard.
As a warm-up, M-team went to Holland for Club/CAC show and CACIB show...

Blood tracking trial in Heinola, Paistjärvi
The woods were full of people picking up the lingonberries and mushrooms...
Definitely not a good combination with the tracking trial. Anyhow, Nando did
great job again. Unfortunately the bloodless corner was too problematic today.
Result: 2nd prize with 37 points.

A rainy day in blood tracking trial in Kouvola. Nando was
quite a spiritless because of the heavy rain and had some difficulties in the
corners of the track. Result: 3rd prize with
25 points.

Blood tracking trial in Heinola, Vierumäki
Nando did his best track ever in winners class - until the 5 last meters of the
track...
In the very end, he moved just a few meters aside from the blood track and
unfortunately passed by a game.
Result: 2nd prize with 39 points. Like a judge said, we were
"only one meter
from Tracking CH title" :-( Despite of a pity at the time, I am very pleased on Nando's
working in burning hot sunshine.

We did a hiking trip to
Repovesi national park with RR-girl Deici, Jaana and Heidi.
Dogs enjoyed in the 7,5 hours long walk at the beautiful woods of Repovesi.
Beside hiking we
had great lunch & rest breaks with absolutely dashing views and superb snacks!
Thank you Jaana, Deici & Heidi for a nice company. Let's do this again!

Nando entered lure coursing trial as a veteran (6+ years old dogs) for the
first time in Jyväskylä.
Even thought Nando's result wasn't so brilliant, he ran with full enthusiasm and
clearly enjoyed in his favorite hobby. The accrued years and couple of extra
kilos have just taken the best sharp of our "old stager" :o) A nice and very
sunny day in a good company! Nando's LC results

On Friday it was time to pack a car and have a traditional summer
trip with Jonna & Maissi. This time we headed to Tallinn and Estonian Winner
Show.
The judge of the day was Mr. John Wauben from the Netherlands, breed
entry 26.

Jumo went to Best Male and got his 10th CACIB. He was chosen to
be
Best of Breed which entitled him to a new title Estonian Winner-09 &
Crufts qualified 2010.
In the group finals Jumo did what he does the best - showed off ;D The breed
judge Mr. Wauben judged FCI group 6 and placed Jumo Best in Group-1. What
a super boy he is - this was Jumo's 2nd BIG-1 placement at the international show in a row! Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for the BIS final.

Summer is here!
Last weekend was very sunny and very warm. RR-girl Milka (from kennel Malozi)
joined us for couple of days and the whole bunch of Ridgies were sunbathing in
our garden - from the early morning to late in the evening. In between dogs took
a nap in the shady terrace... What a relaxing way to enjoy life!

Nando keeps on shining...
We entered blood tracking winners class in Heinola, Paistjärvi. Nando did his
best track ever; 48 points (out of 50), 1st prize, the 2nd best dog of
the trial. Detailed result here.
This was Nando's second leg towards Tracking Champion title. I'm very excited
and very proud of my working boy!

We received a letter from FCI today; Jumo's C.I.B. (International Champion
title) has now been confirmed.

Nando keeps going!!!
A week ago Nando ruled in agility, now it was time for blood tracking and our
first entry in winners class. Nando surely didn't disappoint me - he never does...
;o) He did amazing job; 46 points, the 1st prize and the 2nd best dog of the
class!

WOH-HOO!! May I introduce Agility District Champion 3rd...

Agility District Championships took place in Heinola. The championship trial
consists of two official trials. Nando resulted 5 + 0 which made him the 3rd
best Maxi-3 dog of the region of Salpausselkä. Way to go, Nando! More photos

It has been awhile since Nando and I have been competed in agility together.
And oh boy, it was fun!
We entered 2 x Maxi-3 class in Hämeenlinna. Nando felt better than ever and had
so much energy. For a moment I thought I had taken Jumo with me. Jumo's motto in
agility is "no speed limits"... :D Obviously, the speed was too much for me, as
I made a mess of the poles. I was completely late with the guidance and poor
Nando didn't know where to go. Result: 5 faults and some overtime.
The second track felt as good as the first one. Unfortunately I was late (yes,
again) with the guidance near the A-fence... And when you have a dog who is
crazy about the contact fences, you can guess the rest of the story ;) Result:
disqualification.
In spite of all, I just have to say: agility is super fun!!! We both enjoyed in
our debut at the hardest level. Agility results

Latvian Winner Show in Riga
Päivi and I packed a car on Friday morning and headed to Riga for INT show
with Jumo and his sister Musca. The show took place on Saturday and Ridgebacks (entry
19) were judged by Mr. Per Iversen, Norway.
Jumo did great job and took what we were after; Latvian CAC. With this CAC Jumo
became a new Latvian Champion & Baltic Champion. Over and above, he was
BOB with CACIB and a new title Latvian Winner-09! The day concluded to
the group finals. Jumo showed off like never before and litterally flew in the
ring. The group judge Mr. Boris Spoljaric from Croatia noticed that too and put
Jumo all the way to Best in Group-1 placement!
Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for BIS-finals as we had to hurry to ferry.
Thank you Kristine and Linards for your hospitality during our stay! The dinner
was great, cheesecake super-delicious (not to mention those tasty apple pancakes)
and the company cheerful. Päivi; thanks again for hilarious travel company!

Champion of Champions 2009 gala night for Finnish top show dogs
Jumo truely enjoyed in the show and did his very best on a catwalk. The
spotlights, music and the cheering crowd was amazing! It was great to celebrate
Jumo's success with dear friends; the proud breeder Tuija and Päivi (owner of
Jumo's dam).

continued, Jumo was dropped out of the competition.

A year has started smoothly... Dogs have been enjoying in long walks and had a break
from all training nearly four weeks. Now it's time to get back in business and
welcome an active new year to come :o)
